  • Study Overview and Purpose

    This survey is trying to learn about parents' experiences with pro-social youth activities, such as after school and summer programs, sports, club, and other groups youth participate in within our community. This study aims to identify perceptions of program accessibility, relevance, relationships, safety, and structural barriers.

    Inclusion Criteria

    To participate in this survey, you must:

    • Have at least one child that is currently 12-18 years old
    • Live in Missoula County

    Your child does not need to be currently participating in any out of school activities to participate. 

    Procedure

    If you agree to participate, completing this survey will take approximately 15 minutes.

    Risks

    There are minimal risks associated with participating in this study. Answering some questions may cause you to feel sad and/or upset.

    Benefits

    Survey data will guide improvements to youth program design, outreach strategies, and policy advocacy to strengthen youth engagement across Missoula County.

    Confidentiality

    All records will be kept confidential and will not be released without your consent except as required by law. Only the researchers and their faculty supervisor will have access to the files, recordings, and transcripts associated with this research. Both your and your child’s identity will be kept private. If the results of this study are written in a scientific journal or presented at a scientific meeting, neither your nor your child’s name will be used. 

    Voluntary Participation/Withdrawal

    Your decision to participate in this research study is entirely voluntary. You may withdraw at any time and can skip questions. Your participation or lack of participation will not impact your child's ability to participate in the youth focus group component of this research study.

    Future research:

    Identifiers might be removed from the identifiable private information and could then be used for future research studies or distributed to another investigator for future research studies without additional parental permission from you or the child’s legal guardian.
